There’s nothing worse than not getting enough sleep. It can really take its toll, making you irritable, jumpy, more stressed out, more anxious… insomnia can be really difficult to deal with, whether you’re having trouble falling or staying asleep.
There are all sorts of reasons why you may not be sleeping properly and trying to discover why you’re struggling in this regard is a big step to take towards solving the problem. It may be something as obvious as some medication you’re taking that’s having an impact on your sleep/wake cycle or perhaps the fact that you’re drinking too much coffee during the day.
But it could also be something like your bedroom being messy or dirty, an uncomfy bed, staring at the blue screen of your phone right before turning the lights out, noise coming in from outside and so on.
Or it could be something physical, such as chronic pain, or perhaps it’s more to do with your emotional state and you often find yourself waking up with your mind racing, or maybe you struggle to get to sleep because anxiety is keeping you awake.
There are various techniques you can try to help you improve the quality of your sleep. Have you heard of sleep hygiene before? This can really help you enjoy better rest and involves following a regular sleep schedule seven days a week, getting at least 30 minutes of exercise on most days of the week and getting as much exposure to natural light as you can.
You also need to devise a relaxing bedtime routine for yourself, such as by taking a warm shower, doing some bed yoga or breathing exercises and making sure that your bedroom environment is calm and relaxing. Turn off email and text alerts so you’re not jolted awake.
There is something else you could try to whisk you off to the Land of Nod and that’s Simply CBD oils. There’s serious buzz around CBD at the moment, with its benefits being extolled here, there and everywhere, able to affect feelings of stress and anxiety, as well as helping you sleep better.
You could make yourself a very delicious bedtime beverage each night, adding in a few drops of CBD oil, to see if it makes a difference. Check out this article on the Healthline website, featuring CBD expert Gabriel Aly’s recipe… one cup of cherry juice, one cup of white grape juice, some valerian root tincture (known to help promote sleep as well) and some CBD.
If you really have been struggling with lack of sleep for some time now and are worried about how it’s starting to take its toll on your mental and physical health, giving CBD a go could be just the answer you’ve been looking for. Try it out for a week and see how you feel.
